Membership of The Australasian Hydrographic Society is open to any individual or organisation with an interest in the science (and art) of hydrography, hydrographic exploration and its heritage. This includes surveying in the saltwater and freshwater environments, the adjacent shore and hinterland. This includes inland systems. No formal qualifications are required.
Applications are welcome from (but not limited to) hydrographic surveyors, geophysicists, oceanographers, civil engineers, or students of these disciplines as well as organisations with relevant interests. Notably, those with simply an interest in the history (or future technology) of marine exploration are most welcome
CORPORATE MEMBERSHIP Applications are particularly welcome from organisations involved in contract survey companies, port authorities, government, military and public service authorities, petroleum companies research and educational institutions, professional bodies and other learned societies, engineering consultants, post and telecommunications organisations, acoustic and electromagnetic equipment manufacturers, oceanographic and survey instrument manufacturers, dredging and salvage contractors and surveyors in all sectors of private practice as well as organisations with relevant interests.

Corporate Membership:
Membership entitlements are:
- Two copies of each issue of The HYDROGRAPHIC Journal, in addition to one copy of Hydro INTERNATIONAL (six issues per annum) as well as other emailed information coming out of the Society's corporate membership of kindred societies
- Reduced rates for exhibiting at Society symposia, seminars and workshops.
- Reduced rates for advertising or insert material appearing in the Hydrographic Journal.
- Opportunity to sponsor publication of Society publications via paid advertising.
- Opportunity to hold workshop meetings for benefit of Society members.
- Use of Society logo for display purposes.
- Inclusion in the The Society's list of Corporate members, as and when published.
- Opportunity to advertise vacancies or educational programmes via the IFHS Website Employment page at preferential rates or on this site FREE.
Individual, Student and
Retired Membership:
Membership entitlements are:

Associates
- Persons interested in the Heritage of Exploration and who wish simply to associate themselves with the AHS and receive regular information about the activities of the AHS Region known as "Australia on the Map Division" may request to be added to the Associate Member list - there is NO CHARGE but this does not entitle the Associate to receive mailed material such as the Journal or Hydrographic International.
NOTES:
1. Student
Open to any individual receiving full-time education (evidence of student enrolment to accompany application and any annual renewals). Special preferential discounts are available for attendance at Society symposia and workshops. Other membership benefits are the same as those for Individuals.
2. Retired
Open to those who wish to remain conversant with developments within the hydrographic industry while no longer active. Membership benefits are the same as those for Individuals.
